Tanya Steinberg joined International House Philadelphia as vice president of finance and administration in 2000, following a decade of business leadership experience in the Philadelphia region. Over the course of more than 15 years with the organization, Tanya Steinberg assumed executive positions such as chief operating officer and president. She received several honors and awards, including Best of Philly recognition from Philadelphia Magazine for the IHP Film Program.

International House Philadelphia (IHP) is the city and surrounding area’s premiere resource for international arts, culture, and educational opportunities. The organization provides a number of cultural services and hosts various annual events, including a Lunar Near Year Celebration that both honors ancient Chinese traditions and introduces Philadelphia area residents to various aspects of Chinese culture.

Celebrating the Year of the Rooster in January, the event featured an elaborate spread of traditional Chinese food, as well as a live performance of authentic Chinese music, dancing, and martial arts at the Ibrahim Theater. Experienced in the diverse aspects of leading community organizations, Tanya Steinberg most recently held the President and CEO position with International House Philadelphia (IHP). Working closely with the Board of Trustees, Tanya Steinberg oversaw a variety of fundraising efforts and secured a capital project grant for an organization that has a major cultural impact in the Greater Philadelphia area. The capital project grant secured the upgrade of the IHP Ibrahim Theater. Funds secured by Tanya Steinberg are of critical importance on continued success of the 40year old Philadelphia Film Program.

The IHP’s newly renamed its Film Program. Lightbox Film Center (formerly known as IHP Film program) has a history of screening thought-provoking independent films amd extends back four decades. A 40th anniversary exhibition traces this lineage through a thematic focus on women and children and their representation in film. It examines the partnership that developed between the Neighborhood Film Project and the International House that held true to foundational values through film series such as Real to Reel. The film program at IHP is going strong to this day.

The WOAR Safe Bars Program

In 2016, Tanya Steinberg joined GlamourEsq as the company’s executive vice president for global development. Her past professional experience includes serving in leadership positions for several Philadelphia-based nonprofits. For several years, Tanya Steinberg was the director of finance and administration for Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR).

As Philadelphia’s only rape crisis center, WOAR offers comprehensive education programs and advocates for the rights of individuals and families affected by sexual assault. In addition to overseeing workshops and counseling programs, the organization trains local parents, professionals, and businesses.

Through its Safe Bars program, WOAR works with Philadelphia-area bars, clubs, and restaurants to prevent sexual violence and promote a culture of respect. Local business owners and managers who take part in the program learn to identify and properly respond to inappropriate behaviors in their establishments.

After completing the Safe Bars program, a business is recognized as a certified Safe Bar in Philadelphia. International House Philadelphia Offers Residency Scholarships

A financial and organizational leadership professional with over twenty five years of experience, Tanya Steinberg has received recognition as one of the top female leaders in Philadelphia. Tanya Steinberg previously served as the president and chief executive officer at the International House Philadelphia (IHP), a multicultural student residence and arts center that fosters a global community.

Generous donors help provide scholarships for students to offset the expense of living at IHP. Currently, IHP offers two scholarship opportunities. The Israeli Student Scholarship and the Nigerian Student Scholarship are available to full-time Israeli and Nigerian students, respectively. Each scholarship award applies to occupancy fees at IHP, with specific amounts depending on the student’s length of stay. Students with a three to six-month reservation will receive up to $500, and those with a reservation of seven months or more will receive up to $1,000.

In addition to full-time status, applicants must provide proof of citizenship, and they must be current IHP residents or possess a confirmed reservation. They also must write a personal statement describing their goals as an IHP resident, how the scholarship will help fulfill those goals, and their proposed contributions to IHP’s mission and vision.
